The 2023 Bank of America Study of Philanthropy: Charitable Giving by Affluent Households. Bank of America partners with the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy on a bi-annual basis to produce this study, the ninth in this series of research reports, to provide insight into the charitable habits of affluent households. This session will dive deep into the findings, highlight critical trends in giving patterns and motivations driving these donors, and how nonprofits can integrate these metrics into their fundraising strategies.

About the Presenters
Caitlin Meloy, CAP®
Caitlin Meloy is a Senior Vice President and Philanthropic Strategist with Bank of America Private Bank in Boston, Massachusetts. A seasoned professional with more than a decade of experience, she takes great satisfaction in making personal connections with multiple generations of families and becoming an extension of their established foundations, donor advised funds, and nonprofit organizations to help build and sustain their charitable missions.
Living internationally for several years has given Caitlin a unique perspective on family giving across the globe. A hallmark of her consultative approach is to engage current and future foundation stewards and leaders and offer direction with respect to governance, mission advancement, grantmaking, leadership development, administration, and thought leadership. To aid her in addressing their often-dynamic situations, she works with a team of philanthropic solutions specialists and colleagues across the Private Bank and Merrill®.
Prior to joining Bank of America Private Bank in 2016, Caitlin worked in Dublin, Ireland as the Director of the Young Leaders for the Ireland Funds. Previously, she worked at Fitch Ratings for five years in the residential mortgage-backed securities and public finance divisions.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree from Santa Clara University in California, Caitlin pursued her M.B.A. from the University College Dublin Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School in Ireland, and a Master’s degree in Advanced Management from the Yale School of Management. Additionally, she holds the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) designation.
Originally from New York, Caitlin and her husband, Ricky, reside in Medford, Massachusetts where they are raising their two children, Winnie and Freddy. She is the Boston Chapter representative for University College Dublin and a member of the Ireland Funds Young Leaders program. A former triathlete, Caitlin enjoys a variety of mental and physical health activities.
Chelsea Craig
Chelsea A. Craig is a Vice President and Philanthropic Client Manager at Bank of America Private Bank. In her role, Chelsea manages a diverse book of business ranging from nonprofit institutional clients, private foundations, and charitable trusts within Connecticut and Massachusetts. She provides customized fiduciary and administrative services and delivers tailored resources and best practices in the areas of board governance, donor development, and strategic planning. In addition, she works closely with her clients to understand where she can harness the various capabilities of the Private Bank to build efficiencies that align with her clients’ goals and organizational mission.
A Connecticut native, Chelsea joined Bank of America Private Bank in 2018 after a decade long career in the nonprofit services industry in Hartford. In her previous roles, Chelsea managed the communications strategy for Hartford Public Schools, later serving in a capacity managing strategic community partnerships. She most recently served as the Director of Communications for the Boys & Girls Club of Hartford.
Chelsea holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing from Eastern Connecticut State University. She is actively involved in her local community of Bristol, CT and serves on the Board of Directors for the Bristol Boys & Girls Club.
