Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore Strengthens Team with Appointment of Julia Bateman as Director of Development, and Continued Support of Administrative Assistant Marianne McCaffrey
The Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore (FCCNS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Julia Bateman as Director of Development and to celebrate the continued service of Marianne McCaffrey as Administrative Assistant. Together, they bring over 40 years of nonprofit and park experience to support the Friends’ mission to preserve, protect, and enhance the Cape Cod National Seashore.
“Thanks to a capacity-building grant from the National Park Foundation, the Friends can strengthen our leadership team with two deeply dedicated professionals,” said David Bernstein, President of the FCCNS Board of Directors.
Bateman joins the Friends following a 17-year career in nonprofit fundraising across New England. Most recently, she served as Communications & Development Manager at Helping Our Women on the Outer Cape, where she supported a $1.6 million capital campaign. Her previous roles include positions with Massachusetts General Hospital and Calmer Choice.
“I am honored to join the Friends at such an exciting time in its growth,” said Julia Bateman. “The Seashore has always been a place of renewal and inspiration for me. I look forward to engaging the community in supporting its extraordinary natural and cultural legacy.”
Marianne McCaffrey, who has served as Administrative Assistant for the last 10 years, brings 25 years of prior experience as a generalist with the Cape Cod National Seashore. She provides essential administrative, financial, and membership support, ensuring smooth operations and strong communication among members and the board.
“Marianne’s long-standing dedication and deep institutional knowledge are cornerstones of our success,” added Bernstein. “Her continued support ensures the Friends remain a trusted and effective partner to the Seashore.”
With this strengthened team, the Friends are well-positioned to expand fundraising, outreach, and conservation efforts in partnership with the National Park Service and local communities.
