Cape Cod Foster Closet Welcomes New Executive Director Joseph Sandagato
The Board of Directors of Nurturing Foster Families, d/b/a Cape Cod Foster Closet is pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph (“Joe”) Sandagato as the new Executive Director, effective May 5, 2025.
For nearly three decades, Joe has dedicated his life to advocate for, and provide leadership within, the child welfare space here in the Commonwealth, and nationally, to assure that the voices of children and families are included in the critical work of the health and human services divisions.
During that time, Joe and his spouse have been foster, kinship, and adoptive parents, fostering a deep understanding of the challenges and needs faced by foster and kinship families.
“After an extensive search, we are delighted to welcome Joe as our new Executive Director,” stated David Quinones, Board Chair. “His visionary leadership experience, coupled with his unwavering passion for the community we serve, will be pivotal in expanding our reach and impact of our services and programs on foster and caregiver families on Cape Cod and the Islands.”
“Having supported many families throughout the state, and here on Cape Cod, I am keenly aware of the positive impact of organizations providing critical support to youth and families,” expressed Joe. “The Cape Cod Foster Closet has made a tremendous impact on the lives of many families. I am thrilled to be able to work directly to assist children and families through this wonderful organization. I am inspired by the outpouring of community support and I look forward to working to deepen and strengthen these vital connections.”
Sharon Palmer, co-founder and interim Executive Director shared, “Foster care has been very close to my heart since my husband and I became licensed foster parents in 2017. Our organization was founded on the realization that foster and kinship families perform an amazing service in the community and deserve personalized support as well as gratitude. We are thrilled that Joe is joining our growing organization as Executive Director and we are confident that his knowledge and leadership abilities will enable us to have even more impact on the foster/kinship community of the Cape and Islands.”
