Sara Anton named as Director of Philanthropy

Sara Anton

Calmer Choice, a local non-profit serving children and those who support them on Cape Cod and surrounding regions is thrilled to announce Sara Anton as the organization’s first-ever Director of Philanthropy. Anton will step into this full-time role in July, joining the organization at a pivotal juncture as Calmer Choice works to bridge the gap between mental health supports for youth and the limited resources in schools and communities available to meet that need here on the Cape.

As Director of Philanthropy, Sara will oversee the fundraising program and expand philanthropic support to meet the organization’s short-term and long-term vision. She will manage a diverse portfolio of donors, developing and implementing strategies focused on engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding supporters to advance Calmer Choice’s core aim of supporting individuals in reconnecting with the inner capacities they need to feel grounded, resourced, and capable of leading lives of kindness and compassion.

Anton was born and raised in the Boston area and spent her childhood summers on Cape Cod. After graduating from Union College, she moved to Colorado where she embraced mountain life for 2 years. She then returned home to obtain her master’s in social work from Boston College. After receiving her MSW, Sara managed an $8.5 M campaign at the Walker Home & School in Needham, where she fell in love with fundraising.

In addition to the Walker School, Sara has worked with the Breckenridge Music Festival (BMF), the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound (APNS), and Gosnold Behavioral Health. On her decision to join the Calmer Choice team Sara says, “It is not easy to be a kid today. This world is different from the one I grew up in. Calmer Choice offers evidence-based approaches to help kids navigate the challenges of everyday life, both inside and outside of the classroom. I am deeply honored to be a part of this group of passionate, forward-thinking leaders who are committed to enhancing the health and vibrancy of this community to its fullest potential.”

Sara earned her certified fundraising executive (CFRE) status in August of 2022 and is a member of the Board of Directors at Philanthropy Partners of Cape & Islands. She is also a member of the Community Leadership Institute’s Class of 2024. Sara and her husband, Matt live in Sandwich and have 3 children- Sean, Addie, and Nate and a sweet ‘Mississippi mutt’ named Dottie.
