The Cahoon Museum seeks an enthusiastic educator with excellent interpersonal skills to develop, implement, and evaluate educational programming at the museum. This position is responsible for the management of a wide range of educational programs for students, teachers, families, and life-long learners that bring the Museum’s exhibitions and mission to life.
The Education Coordinator will implement educational programming for school groups by designing and leading group visitor experiences -both in-person and virtual- for K-12 students, their chaperones, and their teachers. Responsibilities include outreach to schools and teachers; developing and implementing school visits and teacher opportunities; and developing curriculum and participatory programming aligned with the museum’s exhibitions and initiatives.
The Coordinator must be highly organized, energetic, a strong communicator, flexible and responsive to needs of visitors, passionate about art education, and work well in a collaborative team-based approach. Qualifications: Minimum of 3-5 years experience in education, preferably museum or arts education; familiarity with Massachusetts K-12 curriculum frameworks; ability to work both independently and collaboratively; some understanding of American art history preferred.This is a part-time, grant funded position; ability to work some weekend and evening hours.
